11/3/2014 0 Comments Alix & Matt, Aynhoe ParkWhen Alix and Matt contacted me about playing for their wedding at Aynhoe Park I was so excited - not least because the venue itself is one of the most spectacular venues we have ever had the pleasure of playing at. They had a very clear idea of what they wanted. They wanted Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling in Love' for the bride's entrance, and 'God Only Knows' for their recessional. As they wanted a violin duo, I immediately set about the challenge of arranging their special requests for the required ensemble. On the day itself, the weather simply could not have been better - we had beautiful sunshine for the outdoor ceremony in the breathtaking grounds overlooking the Oxfordshire countryside on what I think was actually one of the hottest days of the summer. Playing outside does present challenges - namely that our delicate (and very expensive!!) instruments need protecting from the sun and from the rain (afterall, we live in England and have to be prepared for the unexpected downpour!), but our instruments were protected by an elegant white parasol - which we almost lost when one of the guests arrived by helicopter! It is always such an honour to be asked to be a part of such a pivotal day in someone's life, that I can honestly say that I enjoy every single second of my work. A huge thank you to Alix and Matt for asking us to provide their Aynhoe Park wedding ceremony music.
